YES. YES IT DOES.
Frankly it’s just bothers me whenever someone gets the idea behind something /so horribly wrong/ that it makes them not want to have anything to do with it. Or when people intentionally act like trash and hide behind it. It just really gives everything a bad name and leads to eye rolls whenever you say you’re apart of it.
I remember when I first told my mom I’m feminist and the first thing she said was, ‘okay, just don’t burn your bras.’
Aww I lost a follower. :(
Well, good bye to whoever left; I hope your journeys treat you well.
"I don’t need feminism because a so-called feminist commented on a post with: ‘Men don’t need abuse shelters. I’m not saying they deserve to be abused or that they shouldn’t receive help. They’re men, they need to toughen up.’ You sir/ma’am are the VERY definition of sexism."
salt-and-burn-my-heart (via why-we-dont-need-feminism)
The thing about that is, if they’re shitty like that and sexist towards men. THEYRE NOT A FEMINIST!!! Please don’t associate people like that with the entire movement, because they may call themselves feminists, but people like that aren’t.
Also, there will (unfortunately) ALWAYS be extreme people that are the bad side of the movement and make it look bad.
I apologize on behalf of that person, because they are part of the problem. They are NOT a feminist if they don’t care abut men’s issues.
A part of feminism is helping to raise awareness about men’s issues and the hardships that are faced by men.
If y’all are looking for a movement that will help men’s issues and try to accomplish gender equality, that movement is feminism!
